Dear Customer,
This is my first newsletter as Chief Executive Officer, NATS. I look forward to meeting many of you in the near future to listen to your views and to better understand what’s important to you. On that note, I’ll also be reviewing how I communicate with key customers and stakeholders and will be seeking your feedback on this newsletter in due course.

TBS on track to save 80,000 minutes of delay at Heathrow
Airlines are hailing the introduction of Time Based Separation – a new way of separating arriving aircraft by time instead of distance – as a major milestone in cutting delays at Heathrow Airport.More…
Record environmental savings reported by NATS
NATS has enabled a reduction of more than 600,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions thanks to more efficient air traffic control procedures, improved use of airspace and innovative technology in the last financial year. This is equivalent to £155 million in fuel savings for airlines. The record-breaking results have been published in NATS’ 2014-15 Corporate Responsibility report, which reviews its environmental and community affairs performance.More…
NATS response to the Independent Enquiry Report
The report from the independent enquiry into the technical failure at Swanwick on 12 December 2014 has been published. NATS would like to thank Sir Robert Walmsley and the other members of the enquiry panel for their thorough and comprehensive report. We will complete our study of the report in the coming weeks and will promptly implement the recommendations applicable to us in order to continue providing the otherwise outstanding service that our customers rightly expect.More…
UK air traffic continues to rise
UK air traffic increased by 1.2% in April compared to the same month last year, with no en-route delay attributable to NATS for 99.95% of flights.More…
NATS and Indra announce Ground-Based Augmentation System solution
The joint solution takes a well-developed product and knowledge base and improves on the current capability of existing GBAS solutions, benefitting airports and ANSPs around the globe. It will prove valuable to any capacity-constrained airport, providing a wide range of approach routes supported by a single system. This will make it possible for airlines to reduce flying time, and therefore save on fuel consumption, whilst also reducing noise for residents near the airport through the use of higher approach angles.More…
NATS awarded Singapore contract
NATS has been awarded a contract to work with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). In anticipation of future traffic growth and challenges, CAAS aims to advance its air navigation services capabilities to the next higher level in partnership with a credible air navigation services provider. NATS will be supported by Airbus Prosky, drawing on the air traffic management company’s renowned experience in these areas.More…
NATS secures Qinetiq renewal
NATS has been awarded a seven year contract extension to continue its work with QinetiQ, the defence technology company that operates a number of Ministry of Defence test and evaluation air ranges.The contract renewal will see specialist NATS air traffic controllers facilitating live weapons tests at ranges throughout the UK, including the use of state of the art fighter aircraft, armoured vehicles, ships and Remotely Piloted Air Systems (RPAS).More…
